TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) confirmed the crash of the Microlight Fixedwing Quicksilver GT500 light civil trainer aircraft with the registered number PK-S126, owned by the Indonesian Aero Sport Federation (FASI). The Sunday morning incident occurred in Ciampea, Bogor, and resulted in the death of Air Commodore Fajar Adriyanto.
A written statement from the Indonesian Air Force Information Service said the aircraft took off from Atang Sendjaja Air Base at 09:08 a.m. local time for a proficiency training mission in aerial sports for capacity building and maintenance.
At around 09:19 a.m., the aircraft lost contact and was found crashed near the Astana Cemetery. Both crew members were immediately evacuated to dr. M. Hassan Toto hospital, but Air Commodore Fajar was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Head of the Indonesian Air Force Information Service, I Nyoman Suadnyana, explained that Air Commodore Fajar piloted the training session, mentioning Roni as the co-pilot without giving away the full identity.
According to Nyoman, the activity is part of a routine training activity for FASI personnel, the national aerial sports umbrella organization under the supervision of the Indonesian Air Force.
Nyoman maintained that the flight was equipped with a Flight Permit (SIT) number SIT/1484/VIII/2025 issued by Atang Sendjaja Air Base. "The aircraft was declared airworthy, and it was the second sortie of the day," he said.
The Indonesian Air Force has evacuated and secured the accident site and ensured appropriate handling procedures. The body of Air Commodore Fajar currently remains at the Atang Sendjaja Air Force Hospital for further processing. Meanwhile, the location of the aircraft crash has been secured by security forces.
Air Commodore Fajar Adriyanto was a graduate of the Air Force Academy (AAU) in 1992 and a fighter pilot of the F-16 with the call sign "Red Wolf."
