TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian men's singles badminton player Alwi Farhan failed to contribute points at the second match of Group D, Thomas Cup 2026 after losing 1-2 against Thailand. The match took place at Forum Horsens on Sunday, April 26, 2026.

Alwi had to concede Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul scored 21-14, 17-21, and 16-21. Despite the initial strong performance, Alwi failed to maintain consistency until the end of the game.

In the first game, the 20-year-old badminton player immediately played aggressively, leading 9-6 before losing momentum and letting the opponent catch up to 12-12. But Alwi regained his rhythm and closed the opening game with six consecutive points to win 21-14.

The tables turned during the second game, with the Thai badminton player leading 10-4 and consistently maintaining the lead. Alwi's efforts to catch up were often thwarted by Panitchaphon's tight defense, and the second game was ultimately closed with a 21-17 victory for Thailand.

In the deciding game, the match was tight from the beginning. Both players launched attacks until the score was tied at 7-7. But Alwi once again lost focus in the middle of the game, which was leveraged by Panitchaphon to gain control of the game.

In a trailing position, Alwi was unable to catch up and had to concede 16-21. This result puts Indonesia behind 1-2 against Thailand. Previously, Jonatan Christie also lost to Kunlavut Vitidsarn in a rubber game.

The only point for Indonesia was contributed by the men's doubles pair of Sabar Karyaman Gutama / Moh. Reza Pahlevi Isfahani, who defeated the Thai pair Chaloempoen Charoenkitamorn / Worrapol Thongsa-nga and temporarily equalized the score to 1-1.
