TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Religion Minister Nasaruddin Umar stated that the commemoration of Nuzulul Quran this year will be held at the State Palace in Jakarta. Nasaruddin conveyed this after meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Wednesday, March 4, 2026.

Nasaruddin said that the meeting was specifically to discuss preparations for Nuzulul Quran. The Night of Nuzulul Quran is believed by Muslims to be the occasion of the revelation of the Quran to Prophet Muhammad. Nuzulul Quran is commemorated every 17th night of Ramadan.

"Insha Allah, the commemoration of Nuzulul Quran is planned to be held in Jakarta, precisely at the State Palace," said Nasaruddin Umar.

Nasaruddin mentioned that they had discussed several alternative locations for the event. Some of them were in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) in East Kalimantan, Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta, and the State Palace in Jakarta. "The President directed that the event be held at the State Palace," said the Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque.

According to Nasaruddin, the selection of the State Palace as the venue for the commemoration holds symbolic meaning. Nuzulul Quran, he said, is not only a spiritual moment for Muslims, but also a reminder of the national, justice, and humanitarian values in line with the teachings of the Quran.

He also conveyed that the Religion Ministry will prepare a solemn yet inclusive event concept. The commemoration is planned to involve various elements, from religious figures and ambassadors of friendly countries to representatives of the younger generation.

"We want the commemoration of Nuzulul Quran to become a space for national unity. The State Palace, as a symbol of the country, is expected to become a place that unites spiritual and national values," he said.

Nasaruddin then ensured that all technical aspects of the implementation would be carefully coordinated with the Palace.
