TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Downstream Industry and Investment Minister, as well as CEO of Danantara Indonesia, Rosan Roeslani, has invited Bill Gates, The Gates Foundation, to collaborate and invest in the Danantara Trust Fund. Rosan Roeslani stated that he has introduced the Danantara Trust Fund to Bill Gates.
"I have also spoken with the team from the Gates Foundation yesterday morning about the potential for collaboration with Danantara," said Rosan Roeslani, after accompanying President Prabowo Subianto in receiving Bill Gates at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
Rosan Roeslani has spoken with the Gates Foundation team to invest in the Danantara Trust Fund. Rosan Roeslani stated that the Danantara Trust Fund will allocate 1 to 2.5 percent of the total dividends received each year. According to Rosan Roeslani's calculations, Danantara will initially invest US$100 million and, within 5-6 years, will invest US$1 billion in the Danantara Trust Fund.
"This US$1 billion will be directed towards education, sanitation, and those who wish to improve the standard of living for the Indonesian people, especially those who need our help," said Rosan Roeslani.
President Prabowo Subianto welcomed Bill Gates at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, during his visit to Indonesia.
Prabowo also introduced Bill Gates to a dozen Indonesian conglomerates. The attending entrepreneurs were the CEO of CT Corp, Chairul Tanjung; the owner of Citra Borneo Indah Group, Abdul Rasyid; owner of PT Alamtri Resources Tbk. Garibaldi 'Boy' Thohir; owner of Arsari Group, Hashim Djojohadikusumo; owner of Barito Pacific Group, Prajogo Pangestu.
Then, Commissioner of Indika Energy Arsjad Rasjid; owner of Artha Graha Group Tomy Winata; owner of Lippo Group James Riady; as well as senior executive of Salim Group Anthony Salim; owner of Mayapada Group Dato Sri Tahir; and owner of Jhonlin Group Andi Syamsuddin Arsyad alias Haji Isam.
Meanwhile, the cabinet members present were State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi; Foreign Minister Sugiono; Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin; Minister of Investment and Downstream Industry/CEO of Danantara Rosan Roeslani; Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya; and Communication and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid.
