TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) made history in the UEFA Champions League by defeating Inter Milan 5-0 in the final match held at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
Here are three key things to know about PSG's historic Champions League victory.
First Champions League Title
This victory marks PSG's first-ever Champions League title in the club’s history. Their previous best performance was reaching the final during the 2019–2020 season, where they were narrowly defeated 1–0 by Bayern Munich.
PSG has now become the 24th club to win this prestigious European competition. They are also only the second French team to lift the trophy, following their long-time rival Marseille, who claimed the title in 1993.
Treble Winner
According to a report from Antara on Sunday, June 1, 2025, PSG’s exceptional form this season led them not only to their first Champions League title but also to a historic treble, having already secured victories in Ligue 1 and the French Cup.
Luis Enrique, who previously guided Barcelona to their fifth Champions League title in 2015, played a crucial role in PSG’s success this season. With a squad full of young talent, he helped the Parisian club carve out a new chapter in Champions League history.
Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué Named Best Player and Best Young Player
PSG forward Ousmane Dembélé was named the Best Player of the 2024/2025 Champions League, while winger Désiré Doué was recognized as the Best Young Player. The selections were made by UEFA’s technical observation panel on Sunday, June 1, 2025.
“In addition to scoring eight goals, Dembélé played a leadership role in the PSG team, particularly evident in the final where he constantly applied pressure on the opposition,” said UEFA’s panel, as quoted on the official UEFA website.
Désiré Doué was chosen as the tournament’s Best Young Player after delivering strong performances throughout the competition. The 19-year-old Frenchman stood out, especially in the final, where he scored twice and helped PSG dominate Inter Milan with a 5–0 victory.
