TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto welcomed the Chair of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Wang Huning, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta during his visit to Indonesia on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

Wang Huning arrived at the Merdeka Palace around 11:30 a.m. local time, greeted by Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, and a lively marching band and traditional dance. Later, President Prabowo welcomed Wang at the entrance of the Merdeka Palace.

Wang introduced his delegation while Prabowo introduced his officials in return. The head of state was accompanied by the Speaker of MPR RI, Ahmad Muzani, the Secretary of the Cabinet, Teddy Indra Wijaya, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir.

Yesterday at the Merdeka Palace, Wang Huning also visited the DPR complex in Senayan to meet with the parliament leaders.

According to the Presidential Secretariat, this meeting served as a platform for dialogue regarding the strengthening of relations between legislative institutions, expanding economic and socio-cultural cooperation, as well as opportunities for collaboration in regional and global issues.

Wang Huning arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten Province, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. He was welcomed by the Vice Speaker of MPR, Eddy Soeparno, the Indonesian  Ambassador to China, Djauhari Oratmangun, and the Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, Wang Lutong.

Through his Instagram account @eddy_soeparno, Eddy welcomed Wang Huning to Indonesia.

"Welcome to Indonesia, Chair of MPR of the People's Republic of China, Y.M. Wang Huning. Hopefully, Y.M. Wang Huning's visit will bolster strategic and mutually beneficial cooperation between Indonesia and China in various policies and development," said Eddy.

Eddy Soeparno hoped that Wang Huning's visit would strengthen Indonesia-China cooperation, especially in efforts to accelerate the transition to renewable energy.

"Currently, China is the world's largest builder of renewable energy systems, with a significant focus on solar and wind energy, although there is still dependence on coal-fired power plants," expressed Eddy.
