TEMPO.COJakarta - Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto is strongly advocating for the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Indonesia's healthcare sector, asserting that the technology will lead to more precise and effective services.

"Just now, it was presented how AI in the healthcare sector improves disease analysis and enhances prescription formulations," Airlangga remarked during his opening speech at the launch of National Shopping Day in Jakarta on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

Airlangga made this statement after recounting a meeting he held with the Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, before attending the event at Gandaria City, South Jakarta.

Embracing Domestic AI

The Golkar politician shared that his brief discussion with Meutya focused on the advantages of AI implementation in healthcare. Following the presentation, Airlangga urged the rapid adoption of this technology across the sector.

"Perhaps in the future, we should embrace AI, and we must create domestic AI," he stated.

Airlangga emphasized that the core essence of AI is data collection, or data mining. "Data collection is a labor-intensive activity. It requires a large workforce," he noted.

In addition to the healthcare presentation, Airlangga mentioned observing an AI-based whiteboard on display, which he likened to a digital interactive board designed for schools. This digital board, he pointed out, is a direct manifestation of President Prabowo Subianto's mandate for digitalizing learning.
