TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Kencana Energi Lestari Tbk (KEEN) announced that the Hydropower Plant (PLTA) project in Humbang Hasundutan, Pakkat, North Sumatra, was hit by a landslide on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. KEEN has temporarily halted this project.

KEEN's Corporate Secretary, Diana Limardi, stated that the incident occurred at 14:30 local time. "A landslide has occurred at the PLTA Pakkat project area," she said in a disclosure to the Indonesia Stock Exchange on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

Diana stated that there were no casualties or injuries in this incident. She mentioned that the company is currently investigating the incident. "The company will provide additional information if there are material developments related to the results of the investigation and the analysis of this incident," she said.

In addition, Diana added that the company is currently analyzing the financial impact of this incident. However, she ensured that the company would not be fined by PT PLN (Persero) because the PLTA Pakkat had already produced 100 percent of its expected results before the incident. "The incident that occurred is also a force majeure as stated in the Power Purchase Agreement," she said.

Diana mentioned that all PLTA Pakkat have been insured, including business interruption. She is optimistic that this incident will not disrupt the company's business continuity. "PLTA Pakkat is one of the 4 companies' hydropower projects that have been operating commercially, and the company's other projects continue to operate normally," she said.

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that the death toll from ecological disasters such as floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra had reached 776 as of Thursday morning, December 4, 2025. The number of victims is based on the Geoportal of the Indonesian Disaster Data owned by the BNPB.
