Prabowo Holds Talks With Macron During Less Than Five-Hour Paris Visit

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesian president Prabowo Subianto visited three countries during a foreign trip this week, including a brief stop in Paris, France, that lasted less than five hours.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said Prabowo met French President Emmanuel Macron in a closed-door meeting during the short visit.

“President Prabowo visited Paris for less than five hours to hold a closed-door meeting with President Emmanuel Macron,” Teddy said in a statement posted on the Cabinet Secretariat’s social media account on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

According to Teddy, the meeting lasted approximately two hours and 30 minutes and began with a dinner. The two leaders discussed a range of global and international issues, including France’s role as host of the upcoming G7 summit.

“The discussion focused on aligning views on global and international issues between the two leaders, as well as France’s leadership as the host of the G7 meeting,” Teddy said.

Indonesia and France also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation across various sectors. Prabowo was accompanied at the meeting by Teddy and State Protocol Chief Andy Rachmianto.

Macron, meanwhile, was joined by his Chief of Staff General Vincent Giraud, Foreign Affairs Advisor Emmanuel Bonne, and French Ambassador to Indonesia Fabien Penone.

Prabowo’s visit to Paris took place on Friday, January 23, 2026, marking the final stop of his overseas trip, which began on January 18.

Prior to France, Prabowo visited England and Switzerland. In London, he met British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and King Charles III.

He then traveled to Davos, Switzerland, to attend the World Economic Forum and the launch of the Peace Council initiative introduced by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Following his brief visit to Paris, Prabowo returned to Indonesia, arriving at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta late on Saturday, January 24, 2026.
