TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the National Food Security Agency (Bapanas), Arief Prasetyo Adi, claimed that the availability and prices of several food commodities have started to decrease post-Eid 2025. He said prices of certain commodities, such as red chili, had risen due to a lack of farmers' supply and adverse weather in several central areas, but are now starting to decline.
"There are food commodities such as red chili that experienced an increase, but today is showing a decline, aligned with the Eid momentum," said Arief in a written statement, quoted on Monday, April 7, 2025.
Based on the National Food Security Agency Price Panel Data, the national average price of red chili has decreased. At the consumer level, the national average price of red chili per kilogram last Sunday, April 6, 2025, was listed at Rp81,743, down from the average price on April 2 of Rp 93,492 per kg. Meanwhile, the curly red chili price decreased from Rp67,297 per kg on April 2, 2025, to Rp 57,484 per kg yesterday.
As for other food commodities such as rice, Arief mentioned that the condition is safe and sufficient. He stated that the rice stock entering the Bulog (Logistic Affairs Agency) warehouses as of April 4, 2025, is approximately 2.1 million tons.
"At the Cipinang Wholesale Market, which usually has a stock of 40,000 tons, it has increased to 48,000 tons. The rice stock at Bulog is also quite large, reaching 2.1 million tons, the highest in history," he said.
Arief added that until now, Bulog continues to absorb rice in all areas. Bulog's absorption has reached 711 thousand tons, exceeding this month's target by 23 percent.
"Bulog is extraordinary because until now, they have absorbed 711 thousand tons. In accordance with the President's direction, we all have to work. We must not let the farmers' harvested paddy go unabsorbed," said Arief.
