TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pope Leo XIV again called for peace in the Holy Land and the entire Middle East in his Angelus sermon on Sunday, July 26, in Castel Gandolfo.
In his Sunday reflection, Pope Leo also expressed deep concern over the escalating violence and called for an immediate resumption of dialogue.
"I continue to follow with deep concern the ongoing and escalating violence in the Holy Land," the Pope said, as quoted by ANTARA.
He also noted the recent casualties of many civilians, both in the West Bank and in Gaza.
Pope Leo called for all parties to return to the negotiating table to reach a just political solution based on the dignity and equal rights of every human being.
He also urged a halt to further military action and the rejection of unilateral decisions, especially those that violate respect and the status quo of holy places of all religions.
"I urge all parties involved to suspend their attacks and urgently reopen avenues of dialogue and diplomacy, so that the peace so greatly desired by the entire region may be achieved without delay," said Pope Leo XIV.
