Obama Rebukes Trump's 'Bizarre' and 'Outrageous' Treason Accusations

12 hours ago 5

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - U.S. President Donald Trump has once again launched serious allegations against former President Barack Obama. Speaking on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, Trump claimed that Obama was involved in treason and implicated him in efforts to disrupt the presidential elections in 2016 and 2020.

"After what they did to me — and whether it’s right or wrong, it’s time to go after people. Obama’s been caught directly," Trump said, as quoted by NBC News.

He described the alleged actions as grave crimes. "This was treason. This was every word you can think of. They tried to steal the election. They tried to obfuscate the election," Trump added.

Trump also alleged that the Obama administration — including Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden — was behind the so-called “Russia hoaxes.”

“Obama himself manufactured the Russia, Russia, Russia HOAX. Crooked Hillary, Sleepy Joe, and numerous others participated in this, THE CRIME OF THE CENTURY!” he wrote on Truth Social.

“Irrefutable EVIDENCE. A major threat to our country!!!” Trump added.

Obama’s Office Responds

Barack Obama’s office issued a sharp rebuttal. In a written statement, spokesperson Patrick Rodenbush rejected the accusations.

"Out of respect for the office of the presidency, our office does not normally dignify the constant nonsense and misinformation flowing out of this White House with a response," Rodenbush said.

"But these claims are outrageous enough to merit one. These bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction," he added.

Backed by Gabbard’s Claims

Trump’s comments followed remarks by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and CIA Director John Ratcliffe, who accused Obama-era officials of manipulating intelligence to delegitimize Trump’s 2016 win.

Gabbard announced last week that she had filed a criminal report with the U.S. Department of Justice, alleging a treasonous conspiracy involving top officials from the Obama administration.

She claimed that on December 8, 2016, intelligence personnel drafted a report stating Russia had not influenced the election through cyberattacks on infrastructure. According to Gabbard, the report was withdrawn before it reached the President.

White House spokesperson Davis Ingle expressed support for Gabbard, saying, "The White House is appreciative of Director Gabbard’s commitment to transparency and effort to end the weaponization of government against American citizens."

According to Anadolu, Trump also shared a deepfake AI-generated video on Truth Social. The clip featured Democratic politicians saying, "No one is above the law," and ended with a doctored image of Obama being arrested inside the White House.
