TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Malaysia's King Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim reportedly approved a state of emergency declaration for the entire Serian region of Sarawak. According to ANTARA, the declaration follows the haze that has reached air pollution levels endangering public health and safety.

In a statement cited in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, the Prime Minister's Office announced that this decision was made after considering the views of the Prime Minister, the Sarawak leadership, and relevant agencies regarding air quality levels in the region.

Malaysia will take necessary measures more effectively to protect the health and well-being of the affected population.

The Malaysian government stated that it will monitor ongoing developments and promptly implement all necessary actions, including mitigation measures, as well as disseminate information and health advice to the public.
