Indonesia's Raymond/Joaquin Settle for Runner-Up at Indonesia Masters 2026

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s men’s doubles pair Raymond Indra and Nikolaus Joaquin fell short of the Indonesia Masters 2026 title after losing to Malaysia’s fourth-seeded duo Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin in the final at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

The Indonesian pair was defeated in straight games, 19-21, 13-21, despite a spirited performance in front of a home crowd.

Raymond and Joaquin made a strong start in the opening game, leading 9-6 before conceding six consecutive points that allowed the Malaysian pair to turn the tide and move ahead 12-9. The Indonesians were unable to recover and eventually dropped the first game 19-21.

Goh and Nur, who are ranked ninth in the world, dominated the second game from the outset, racing to a 6-0 lead and extending it to 11-4 at the interval. They continued to control the match and reached match point at 20-6.

Raymond and Joaquin mounted a late rally, scoring seven straight points, but the comeback fell short as the Malaysians closed out the match 21-13 in the 37th minute.

The loss denied the world No. 23 Indonesian pair a second BWF World Tour Super 500 title, having previously claimed the Australian Open earlier this year.

Despite the defeat, Raymond and Joaquin delivered an encouraging run at the tournament. On their way to the final, they defeated Taiwan’s eighth-seeded Lee Jhe Huei and Yang Po-Hsuan, as well as fellow Indonesians Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, and Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani.

With the men’s doubles final ending in defeat, Indonesia finished the Indonesia Masters 2026 with a single title, secured by Alwi Farhan in the men’s singles event.
