TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s State Intelligence Agency (BIN) has launched official social media accounts across multiple platforms. BIN Deputy for Communication and Information Idham Malik stated that these accounts were created to foster closer engagement with the public.
"This social media launch is a strategic move to strengthen our connection with the broader public within the framework of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI)," Idham said at the official launch event, as cited in a March 18 press release.
The newly introduced official accounts include Instagram and Threads (@officialbin_ri), YouTube (OfficialBIN_RI), Twitter/X (@OfficialBIN_RI), and TikTok (OfficialBIN_RI).
Idham emphasized that BIN’s presence on social media holds strategic value as a means of educating the public and preventing misinformation. He added that BIN’s digital presence reflects its commitment to strengthening ties with the public.
"It also serves to provide accurate information and promote media literacy while countering hoaxes and misinformation that could threaten Indonesia’s sovereignty and unity," he said.
He hopes these social media platforms will become active channels for public interaction. He encouraged public interaction and invited citizens to engage through these platforms.
