TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian men’s singles shuttler Alwi Farhan clinched the Indonesia Masters 2026 title after a commanding victory over Thailand’s Panitchaphan Teeraratsakul at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

The 20-year-old delivered a dominant performance in the final, winning convincingly 21-5, 21-6 in just 25 minutes in front of a home crowd. Alwi controlled the match from start to finish, leaving little room for resistance from Teeraratsakul, who is a year his senior.

The victory improved Alwi’s head-to-head record against the Thai player to 2-1, after the pair had previously split their first two meetings.

The Indonesia Masters title marked a major milestone for Alwi, as it was his first championship at a BWF Super 500 tournament and also his first title of the 2026 season.

Earlier this month, he suffered an early exit at the Malaysia Open 2026, where he was eliminated in the round of 64.

Alwi’s triumph also placed him among an elite group of Indonesian players to have won the Indonesia Masters since the tournament was first held in 2010.

He became the eighth Indonesian men’s singles champion, joining Taufik Hidayat (2010), Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka (2011), Sony Dwi Kuncoro (2013), Tommy Sugiarto (2015), Anthony Sinisuka Ginting (2018 and 2020), and Jonatan Christie (2023).

The Indonesia Masters is part of the BWF World Tour Super 500 series and is one of Indonesia’s most prestigious international badminton tournaments.
