TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Ministry of Immigration and Corrections deported a Romanian national, Costinel-Cosmin Zuleam (CCZ), on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. Zuleam is an Interpol fugitive over a robbery and murder case in his home country in 2023.

Head of the Immigration Information Technology and Communication Division, Ferry Tri Ardhiansyah, said the Romanian national was deported from Bali via I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport on a Qatar Airways flight with the route Denpasar-Doha-Bucharest on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 12:30 a.m. local time.

"CCZ was deported by the Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Team of Ngurah Rai along with the International Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police and the Bali Regional Police," said Ferry in a official statement on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

Ferry mentioned that CCZ was detected entering Indonesia on November 14, 2023 from Chengdu, China, heading to Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, Banten.

The Romanian citizen had attempted to leave Indonesia by booking a ticket with Air Asia QZ0554 from Denpasar to Kuala Lumpur. But he was not recorded in the immigration data. "After receiving additional information from NCB Bucharest via a Facebook post, the individual was detected still being in Bali," said Ferry.

Costinel-Cosmin Zuleam reportedly had a relationship with a Balinese woman and often stayed at her house. Indonesian authorities arrested him on January 15, 2026.

Head of the International Crime Division NCB Interpol Indonesia Grand Commissioner Ricky Purnama, at a press conference in Denpasar last Tuesday, said Zuleam lived off his Balinese partner's income, as he did not go out much in fear of being discovered by the police.

Furthermore, Ricky continued, when arrested by the police in Bali, his partner was unaware that Zuleam was wanted in Romania for killing a local businessman and threatening his child with a firearm.
