Google Gemini Arena Makes Its Debut at Gunadarma University

TEMPO.COJakarta - To strengthen artificial intelligence (AI) literacy among students and academics, Gunadarma University in Indonesia became the first campus to present Google Gemini Arena at a university. The event took place from January 19 to 23, 2026.

Chairperson Astie Darmayantie explained that this event aimed to introduce students to the practical and practical use of Google Gemini AI, designed as a comprehensive learning experience.

"So, it combined booth activation, workshops, mini-workshops, van activation, and various educational entertainment activities across several areas of the Gunadarma University campus," said Astie on Thursday, January 22, 2026.

Astie explained that Google Gemini Arena was designed with an interactive approach, so that students and academics could gain a deeper understanding of the Google AI ecosystem. "This also aims to introduce its potential to support today's academic needs," Astie explained.

Astie stated that one of the main agenda items in this series was the Google Gemini Arena Workshop themed "Unlocking Gemini, Your AI Bestie," which was attended by Gunadarma University students from various departments.

"This workshop consists of one main session and four mini-sessions covering a variety of topics, from AI-based journal research, presentation creation, complex problem solving, academic literature processing, to CV optimization and career readiness using Gemini," she said.

In the main workshop, held on January 22, 2026, at the Gunadarma University Campus D Auditorium, Astie continued, participants will be introduced to and practice various superior Google Gemini features, such as Gemini Live, Gemini Canvas, NotebookLM, Deep Research, and Nano Banana. "These features are introduced as practical solutions to support academic activities, including research, data processing, and final project preparation," she explained.

The Informatics Faculty lecturer added that a series of mini-workshops will be held on January 22-23 in small groups to provide more in-depth thematic learning and intensive interaction.

Google Gemini Arena also features dynamic booth activations in various campus areas through interactive installations, such as Captain's Spotlight, Study Rescue Button, Mirror Arena, and Interactive Booth. "Students can experience Gemini firsthand, quickly, intuitively, and enjoyably," explained Astie.

According to Astie, this activation was further enhanced by a van that traveled around the Gunadarma University campus to reach a wider audience.

"The collaboration between Google and Gunadarma University through the Google Gemini Arena is expected to strengthen AI literacy in the university environment and encourage students to utilize AI technology productively, ethically, and innovatively to address academic and professional challenges in the digital age," Astie hoped.
