TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Visitors to the Gaikindo International Indonesia Auto Show 2025 or GIIAS 2025 flooded the exhibition on its last day, Sunday, August 3, 2025. They visited several automotive manufacturer booths at the International Convention Exhibition Bumi Serpong Damai (ICE BSD), South Tangerang.

Two of them were visitors from Serpong, Ari Wibowo and Bima. Both of them visited the exhibition to experience the excitement of the domestic automotive industry, with no plans of buying.

"Just browsing, monitoring prices, and checking out products," said Ari, seconded by Bima when met on the last day of GIIAS 2025.

At the same time, several automotive brands at the exhibition were competing to attract visitors to their booths. They did this by presenting various attractions, live music, product excellence demos, and individually calling out to visitors passing through their exhibition booths.

Tempo briefly visited the exhibition area of two brands, BYD and Wuling. Both manufacturing electric cars, the booths of these two automotive companies were located nearby each other.

However, until 4:00 p.m. on the last day of the exhibition, the number of visitors recorded at the BYD exhibition area was significantly higher, with a total of 4,538 people. Meanwhile, the Wuling booth lagged behind with 3,889 people as of 5:00 p.m.

In addition to BYD and Wuling, there were 60 global automotive brands participating in this exhibition. Starting from Aletra, Audi, BAIC, BMW, Chery, Chery Lepas, Citroen, Daihatsu, Denza, DFSK (Sokon), Ford, GAC AION, Geely, GWM, Honda, Hyundai, Jaecoo, Jeep, and Jetour. There were also KIA, Lexus, Maxus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Morris Garage (MG), MINI, Mitsubishi Motors, Nissan, Polytron, Seres, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, VinFast, Volkswagen (VW), Volvo, and X-Peng.

There were also 16 motorcycle brands, namely Alva, Aprilia, Astra Honda Motor, Dubbs, Exotic, Harley Davidson, Kupprum, Moto Guzzi, Pacific, Piaggio, Polytron, Royal Enfield, Scomadi, U-Winfly, Vespa, and Wedison.

Previously, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita was optimistic that the domestic automotive industry would advance through this exhibition. He mentioned that GIIAS is the second largest exhibition in the world after the one in China.

Through the GIIAS 2025, Agus Gumiwang emphasized that the Indonesian automotive industry could become stronger and grow amidst the mounting global pressure and competition.

General Chairperson of Gaikindo Yohannes Nangoi admitted that the automotive industry has recently faced challenges and difficult times in its business line. These conditions have hindered the growth of the domestic automotive industry.

Nangoi said that fluctuative growth is unavoidable, but he's confident in the strength and determination of businesses to bounce back from difficulties.

Despite facing challenges in the automotive industry, Nangoi mentioned that these conditions would not last long because the performance of Indonesia's motor vehicle exports continued to show positive growth in 2024. Moreover, he said, mid-year vehicle exports have grown by 7 percent in 2025, with a market of over 90 countries, including advanced countries such as Japan.
