TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Attorney General's Office issued a letter to halt data and information collection regarding the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program. The letter is numbered B-3256/F.2/Fd.2/07/2026 on July 10, 2026. "We hereby request all Heads of High Prosecutors' Offices throughout Indonesia to stop all activities of collecting data and information related to the MBG program within their respective jurisdictions," reads the letter.
The letter was signed by the Director of Investigation of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi. The document was also copied to the Attorney General, Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Deputy Attorney General for Supervision, and Special Assistant to the Attorney General.
Head of the Attorney General's Legal Information Center, Anang Supriatna, confirmed that the letter was indeed issued by the Attorney General's Office. "Correct," he said when contacted via WhatsApp on Monday, July 13, 2026.
He explained that the letter was issued because the data collection deadlines had passed twice. In addition, to prevent misuse in its implementation. However, according to Anang, the letter does not prevent the prosecutor's office from handling corruption cases related to MBG. "It continues for the suspects who have been identified," said Anang.
The Attorney General's Office has named seven suspects in the alleged corruption case of the MBG management. They are the former Chairman of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana, and his deputies Sony Sanjaya and Lodewyk Pusung.
There is also Asep Yusuf Somantri, a close associate of Sony. Additionally, there is Andri Mulyono, the commissioner of PT Yasa Artha Trimanunggal, which provides BGN electric motorbikes; and Glory Harimas Sihombing, the chair of the Indonesia Food Security Review Foundation (IFSR).
Most recently, prosecutors have named the Deputy Secretary for Promotion and Cooperation BGN Brigadier General Lalu Muhammad Iwan Mahardan as a suspect. He is allegedly involved in determining the selling price of food trays for the free nutritious meals (MBG) to potential partners.
