TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) through the Prosecutor Investigation Team at the Directorate of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) questioned 5 witnesses in a corruption case related to the procurement of Chromebook laptops at the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) for the period of 2019-2022.
"Witness examinations are carried out to strengthen the evidence and complete the case files in the mentioned case," said Head of Legal Information Center of the Attorney General's Office Anang Supriatna at the office of the Indonesian Attorney General's Office in Jakarta on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
In his statement, Anang revealed the initials of the five witnesses who were interrogated along with the positions they held, as follows:
1. AM as a Functional Learning Technology Developer Junior Expert at the Elementary School Directorate for the year 2020-2022.
2. CLR as acting Head of Sub-Directorate for Facility Facilitation and Infrastructure and Governance in the Directorate of Junior High School & Technical Team for the Analysis of TIK Learning Equipment Needs in 2020.
3. AT as a Civil Servant at the Ministry of Elementary and Junior High School Education (Technical Policy Reviewer at Kemendikbudristek).
4. AB as a Civil Servant at the Ministry of Elementary and Junior High School Education & Technical Team for the Analysis of TIK Learning Equipment Needs in 2020.
5. SBD as a Lecturer at Budi Luhur University Information and Communication Engineering Consultant in the Elementary School Directorate at the Ministry of Education and Culture and Technical Team for the Analysis of TIK Learning Equipment Needs in 2020.
In this case, Kejagung alleges illegal actions in a procurement which incurred expenditures of Rp 9.9 trillion, where Rp 6.3 trillion of it came from the special allocation fund. According to the prosecutor's office, there are allegations of altering the study to highlight the Chromebook specifications. This study was issued in June 2020.
This is not in accordance with the initial study in April 2020, which actually highlighted the advantages of Windows. The Chromebook in the initial study was considered unsuitable because its use depends on the internet network.
In the Chromebook laptop corruption case at Kemendikbudristek during Minister Nadiem Makarim's era, Kejagung has set four suspects. Kejagung estimates state losses in this corruption case to reach Rp 1.9 trillion.
"Tonight, the investigators have designated four people as suspects," said Abdul Qohar, Director of Investigation at the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of Kejagung, on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
The four suspects are Nadiem's former special staff, Jurist Tan; former consultant for Kemendikbudristek, Ibrahim Arief; the Director of Elementary School at Kemendikbudristek for the period of 2020-2021, Sri Wahyuningsih; and the Director of Junior High School (SMP) at Kemendikbudristek, Mulyatsyah.
