TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - On Thursday, December 4, 2025, the Bandung Barat region in West Java, Indonesia, was hit by severe weather, including heavy rain and strong winds, causing multiple natural disasters across the area.
In Batujajar’s Kampung Selacau, powerful gusts tore roofs off homes, while flash floods swept through Kampung Curugan in Mukapayung Village, Cililin District.
A riverside tourist spot was also affected by the flash flood.
“There were no casualties as the tourist spot was empty,” said Asep Sehabudin, Head of the Bandung Barat Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), in a statement to Tempo on Friday. In addition, rice fields were submerged, and multiple roads suffered minor landslides.
Flash floods were reported in Kampung Legong, Gununghalu District, where authorities are still gathering data.
However, the majority of reports involve landslides that disrupted road access, particularly in Cililin District, affecting Kampung Walahir, Kidang Pananjung Village, and Kampung Bangsaya, Nangerang Village.
In Kampung Pasirmuncang, Lembang, a landslide struck a house occupied by two families, totaling seven people. In nearby Kampung Sukapinggir, three houses were affected by a retaining wall landslide.
Meanwhile, in Kampung Mekarwangi, Parongpong, three houses sustained moderate damage after being hit by a landslide.
Other landslides were reported across five additional locations. In Cikadu Village, three houses suffered moderate damage, while Wangunsari Village experienced three landslide points. Rancasenggang Village saw three houses affected, closing two village and district roads.
In Buninagara Village, a landslide damaged 43 houses, some severely, and blocked road and bridge access.
“Despite the widespread destruction, there were no fatalities,” Asep confirmed. BPBD officers continue to coordinate with local authorities for disaster management while conducting damage assessments and data collection.
