The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Scores Big with New Super Bowl Spot

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Promotion for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is reaching new heights with a fresh Super Bowl spot, following the first full trailer that debuted earlier this week. 

The teaser gives fans a glimpse of Mario and his friends embarking on another cosmic adventure, aiming for gold across the galaxy. 

Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic return to direct the highly anticipated sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, set to hit theaters on April 3, 2026. 

The film also brings back fan-favorite voices, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, and Jack Black as Bowser, while also introducing Brie Larson as Rosalina and Benny Safdie as Bowser Jr.

Fans can also look forward to seeing Yoshi, Mario’s beloved dinosaur companion, joining the adventure. 

The latest trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie highlights Mario (Pratt) and Luigi (Day) teaming up with their dinosaur companion Yoshi on a cosmic adventure alongside Princess Peach (Taylor-Joy) and Toad (Key). 

Illumination has amped up the visuals for the sequel, showing off a galaxy that’s bigger, brighter, and more detailed than before. Alongside the Sand Kingdom, the film introduces a massive cyberpunk city where Peach and Toad encounter a bar packed with classic Mario enemies. Naturally, Yoshi steals the show, chomping down enemies and spitting them out as eggs. 

From there, viewers are treated to thrilling moments, from Yoshi confronting a towering T. Rex to chomping down on Kamek (Richardson), as Bowser Jr. (Safdie) ominously declares, “The great battle of my life draws near!”

The trailer also hints at playful references to classic games, showing Yoshi brandishing a blue Super Scope while the heroes explore vibrant new worlds outside the Mushroom Kingdom.

More inspirations beyond the main games are featured in the teaser, with the grand appearance of Tostarena Town from Super Mario Odyssey who gives Yoshi his own motorcycle. Fans can also spot playful Easter eggs, from a hidden Nintendo 64 logo in the skyline to secret details inside the bar filled with enemies. 

The Super Mario Bros. Movie was a massive hit, raking in $1.36 billion worldwide to become the third highest-grossing animated film of all time. Released over Easter weekend, it pulled in $166.4 million domestically, marking the second-highest three-day holiday debut in the U.S. behind Batman vs. Superman. 

Kids and longtime fans alike are sure to delight at the mix of humor, action, and playful chaos when The Super Mario Galaxy Movie hits theaters on April 1.
