TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Palestinian resistance group, Hamas, demands that at least 250 aid trucks be allowed entry into the Gaza Strip as a prerequisite for continuing negotiations with Israel, according to The Jerusalem Post, as reported by the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, as cited by Antara on Monday, August 4, 2025.
As reported by Aljazeera, authorities in Gaza said that over 22,000 humanitarian aid trucks are waiting outside the Gaza Strip, as only an average of 84 trucks have been allowed to enter the besieged enclave since Israel slightly eased restrictions on July 27.
Aid organizations say at least 600 aid trucks are required per day to meet the basic needs of the territory.
Hospitals in Gaza have recorded six new deaths linked to starvation and malnutrition in the past 24 hours, including a child, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health on Monday.
This brings the total number of deaths from starvation since the beginning of the genocide to 181 people, including 94 children.
Citing relevant sources, The Jerusalem Post reported that the demand has been communicated to the mediators in the past few days.
The newspaper also reported that Israel and the United States may need months to formulate a new agreement with Hamas.
U.S. President Donald Trump, through his envoy Steve Witkoff, reportedly informed the families of Israeli hostages that both countries are working on a framework for ending the war and releasing the captives.
However, according to the newspaper, it is not clear whether the plan will be officially announced and whether it will include an ultimatum to Hamas.
Following Witkoff's visit, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is said to be holding discussions on the future of the conflict in Gaza. A wider meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, 2025.
Meanwhile, at least 21 Palestinian civilians were killed in an Israeli attack in Gaza on Monday morning, according to medical sources.
A source at al-Awda Hospital said seven aid seekers were killed and 20 others were injured after Israeli forces opened fire near the GHF aid center in central Gaza.
Emergency services and ambulances reported that two people, including a woman, were killed and more than 20 others were injured near the GHF aid distribution point in the al-Shakoush neighborhood on the outskirts of Rafah.
Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital confirmed that the death toll from an Israeli airstrike on a house in Deir al-Balah had risen to three. Two people were killed in an Israeli bombing in Beit Lahiya, northern Gaza, according to emergency services.
A source at al-Ahli Hospital reported that seven people were killed in Israeli shootings in several areas in the Shujayea neighborhood, east of Gaza City.
On October 7, 2023, Hamas breached the border and took over 200 hostages into the Gaza Strip. Israeli authorities reported about 1,200 deaths in the attacks, although former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant admitted in an interview last February that civilians were killed by the Israeli military.
Israel then launched attacks on Gaza, targeting civilians and imposing a total blockade on the enclave, halting the supply of water, electricity, fuel, food, and medicine.
Interspersed with brief ceasefires, Israeli genocide in the Palestinian enclave resulted in the deaths of over 60,400 Gaza residents, mostly women and children. The fighting spread to Lebanon and Yemen, and sparked missile exchanges between Israel and Iran.
