TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has once again allocated Rp100 trillion from the Surplus Budget (SAL) to the Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara). Previously, the state treasurer had transferred Rp200 trillion in SAL funds to the group.

Consequently, the total government funds shifted from Bank Indonesia to state-owned banks now amount to Rp300 trillion. "A week before Eid, I added another Rp100 trillion to the economic system," Purbaya stated at the Ministry of Finance office in Jakarta on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

This capital injection is aimed at boosting liquidity within the economic system. According to Purbaya’s observations, banks are still facing a liquidity crunch, a trend evidenced by rising yields on securities.

Before taking this step, the Finance Minister consulted with the Director General of Treasury, Astera Primanto Bhakti, regarding the volume of government funds still held at the central bank. It was revealed that the government maintained a surplus exceeding Rp400 trillion. "Put Rp100 trillion into the banking system," Purbaya said, recounting his instructions to Astera.

Purbaya did not specify the exact distribution across all institutions, though he noted that Bank DKI received approximately Rp2 trillion. Additionally, he stated that this latest fund placement is more flexible while still accounting for the individual capabilities of each bank.

The initial Rp200 trillion in SAL was transferred to five banks on September 12, 2025. In November 2025, Purbaya injected an additional Rp76 trillion into several state banks and one Regional Development Bank (BPD). However, the government subsequently withdrew Rp75 trillion out of the total Rp276 trillion deposited in the banking system.

While these placements matured in March 2026, Purbaya clarified that he would neither withdraw the funds nor simply extend the existing period, opting instead to keep the capital in the system for another six months.
