TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The schedule of the AFF U-23 Cup 2025 will enter its pinnacle. The U-23 Indonesian national team will face Vietnam in the final match at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta.
The championship title match will take place at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta, on Tuesday, July 29, starting at 20:00 WIB (Western Indonesian Time). This match can be watched through live broadcast on RCTI and Vidio live streaming.
The U-23 Indonesian national team has reached the final for the third time. This achievement has ensured that Indonesia has never failed to reach the final in their three participations since the first one in 2019.
The upcoming encounter will be the third meeting between Indonesia and Vietnam after the 2019 and 2023 editions. The upcoming match will be the second showdown in the final.
In their first meeting in 2019, Indonesia, led by Indra Sjafri, defeated Vietnam in the semi-final with a score of 1-0. In the match played in Cambodia, the lone goal of Garuda Muda was scored by Muhammad Luthfi Kamal.
After triumphing in Cambodia in 2019, Garuda Muda failed to repeat the same story in 2023, when they were coached by Shin Tae-yong. At that time, they lost in the final against the team nicknamed the Golden Star Warriors with a score of 5-6 in a penalty shootout.
Both teams advanced to the final after defeating their respective opponents in the semi-finals, with Indonesia defeating Thailand through a penalty shootout (7-6), while Vietnam defeated the Philippines 2-1 within normal time.
Indonesia has only been champions once, in 2019. Meanwhile, Vietnam has been champion twice, in 2022 and 2023.
In addition to the final match, this AFF Cup, also known as the ASEAN U-23 Championship, will feature the match for the third-place position. Thailand will compete against the Philippines at the SUGBK on Monday, July 28, starting at 20.00 WIB.
