TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will review the House of Representatives' approval for amnesty proposed for the Secretary General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Hasto Kristiyanto. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the anti-graft agency is investigating the decision due to the ongoing legal process against Hasto.
"The legal process is underway, as the parties are submitting their appeals," Budi said in an official statement on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
Meanwhile, President Prabowo Subianto proposed abolition for the sugar import corruption convict and former Trade Minister Tom Lembong. The president also requested amnesty for the bribery convict Hasto Kristiyanto.
Deputy House Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said that Prabowo had asked the parliament to approve the pardon for Tom Lembong through a "presidential letter R43/Pers dated July 30, concerning the DPR's consideration of granting abolition to Tom Lembong," said Dasco on late Thursday.
Additionally, Prabowo also requested amnesty for Hasto, among 1,116 other convicts.
Previously, the Jakarta Corruption Court sentenced Hasto to 3 years and 6 months in prison in the bribery case involving Harun Masiku, who bribed the Commissioner of the General Election Commission (KPU) for the 2017-2022 period, Wahyu Setiawan.
Meanwhile, Tom Lembong was sentenced to four years and six months in prison, in a verdict read by the presiding judge, Dennie Arsan Fatrika, on July 18, 2025. The court declared him guilty "beyond a reasonable doubt" of committing corruption.
