BMKG Warns of Heavy Rain in West Java This Week

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta The Indonesian Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has predicted that several areas in West Java have the potential for rain over the next week from April 27th to May 3rd, 2026. Weather forecaster from the BMKG West Java Climatology Station, Diana Hertanti, stated that several atmospheric dynamics are still predicted to support an increase in water vapor supply and the growth of convective clouds in parts of West Java.

Some of the supporting factors include the relatively warm sea surface temperatures in certain western Indonesian waters and the active equatorial Rossby waves. Additionally, there is still potential for the formation of convergent areas around the West Java region, although not persistent, over the next week.

"Atmospheric instability conditions are still predicted to vary in the mild to strong category, supporting an increase in the potential formation of convective clouds on a local scale," she said in a written statement on Sunday, April 26th, 2026.

The potential for moderate to heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds on a local scale and of short duration on Monday, April 27th, includes Bogor Regency, Depok City, Karawang, Purwakarta, Subang, Cianjur, Sukabumi Regency and City, Bandung Regency, West Bandung Regency, Cirebon Regency, and Majalengka.

On Tuesday, a similar potential in Bekasi Regency, Bekasi City, Bogor Regency, Depok City, Karawang, Purwakarta, Subang, Cianjur, Sukabumi Regency, West Bandung Regency, Sumedang, Cirebon Regency and City, Indramayu, and Kuningan.

On Wednesday, the same conditions are potentially occurring in Bekasi Regency, Bogor Regency, Depok City, Karawang, Purwakarta, Subang, Cianjur, Sukabumi Regency, Sumedang, Cirebon Regency, Indramayu, Majalengka, Garut, Tasikmalaya Regency, Ciamis, and Pangandaran.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, a similar potential is occurring in Bekasi Regency and City, Bogor Regency and City, Depok City, Karawang, Subang, Cianjur, Sukabumi Regency and City, West Bandung Regency, Sumedang, Cirebon Regency, Indramayu, Majalengka, Kuningan, Garut, Tasikmalaya Regency, Ciamis, Banjar City, and Pangandaran.

On Friday, the same conditions are predicted to occur in Bogor Regency, Cianjur, Sukabumi Regency, Bandung Regency, West Bandung Regency, Sumedang, Cirebon Regency, Majalengka, Kuningan, Tasikmalaya Regency.

On Saturday, a similar weather potential is expected in Bekasi Regency and City, Bogor Regency and City, Depok City, Karawang, Purwakarta, Subang, Cianjur, Sukabumi Regency, Bandung Regency, West Bandung Regency, and Majalengka. Meanwhile, on Sunday, the same conditions are expected to occur in Bogor Regency, Cianjur, Sukabumi Regency, Cirebon Regency, Indramayu, Majalengka, Kuningan, and Garut.

BMKG urges the public and relevant agencies to remain vigilant in the face of weather conditions that can change at any time and have the potential to cause hydrometeorological disasters, such as heavy to very heavy rain, strong winds, floods, landslides, and fallen trees.
