TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) began selling train tickets for the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday on Sunday, January 25, 2026. Sales will be conducted in stages according to the departure schedule. Here are some tips for securing train tickets during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming season.

Feni Novida Saragih, Public Relations Manager of KAI Operations Area 6 Yogyakarta, stated that it is important for prospective passengers to note the schedule, set reminders, and ensure a good internet connection when the booking period opens.

On Monday, January 26, 2026, tickets can be booked for departures nine days before Eid al-Fitr, or March 12, 2026. KAI Operations Area 6 Yogyakarta urges the public to plan their trips and book early to avoid missing out. High demand during the Eid homecoming season causes tickets to sell out quickly, especially on popular dates.

KAI Operations Area 6 shared several strategies to increase their chances of securing Eid al-Fitr tickets. Passengers are advised to determine their departure and return dates early and then adjust them to the booking schedule released by KAI.

If you haven't managed to secure a ticket by 12:00 a.m. WIB (Western Indonesian Time), passengers are asked to check back regularly, as unpaid tickets will be automatically canceled and made available again in the system.

According to Feni, flexibility is key when hunting for tickets. "If your favorite date is sold out, try moving it one day earlier or later. Likewise, if direct route tickets are full, take advantage of the connecting train feature via the Connecting Train menu in the Access by KAI app," she said on Monday, January 26, 2026.

KAI also reminds the public to only purchase tickets through official channels, such as the Access by KAI app, the kai.id website, or through official partners who have partnered with KAI. Purchasing through unofficial parties carries the risk of fraud and unreasonable additional fees.

The 2026 Eid ticket ordering schedule starts from 10 days before Eid and continues until 10 days after Eid. Reservations are open January 25, 2026, for departure on March 11, 2026 (10 days before), and continue daily until February 15, 2026, for departure on April 1, 2026 (10 days after).

This schedule allows people to choose their homecoming and return travel dates more effectively. "We urge customers not to delay purchasing, especially for favorite dates, as tickets usually sell out quickly," said Feni.

She added that if customers need further information, they can contact the KAI Contact Center at 121. Furthermore, to support the smooth running of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr transportation, KAI Operational Area 6 Yogyakarta prioritizes safety, security, and travel comfort. "To ensure a safe and memorable homecoming experience," Feni added.
