TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud held bilateral talks in hajj facilities at Al-Salam Palace on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar, who went along with Prabowo in the series of meetings, said the presidents talked about hajj accommodations and Taibah Airport utilization during the meeting with Saudi Arabian authorities.
"There were also discussions about the future use of Taibah Airport once the hajj accommodations are finished," he said in his statement on Thursday, July 3, 2025.
Prabowo also conveyed Indonesia's commitment to continuously improve the comfort of Indonesian hajj pilgrims.
Indonesia and Saudi Arabia also agreed to establish a Supreme Coordination Council, which will be the main platform for strategic cooperation between the two countries in various sectors. "The council will be led directly by the President (Prabowo) and the Crown Prince. This Council will eventually have members and a working team," said the Minister.
In the context of economy and trade, the Indonesian government also expressed hope for the Crown Prince to personally expedite the finalization of the free trade agreement with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
"Because he is a key figure in the GCC structure," he said.
President Prabowo Subianto previously met with the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, or MBS, at the Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Prabowo and MBS signed several agreements and MoUs between business entities of the two countries worth US$27 billion.
