Prabowo Discusses University Cooperation with Mining Sector

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia attended a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the President’s private residence in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, on Sunday, January 26, 2026.

The meeting was also attended by several members of the Red and White Cabinet.

Bahlil explained that President Prabowo summoned his ministers shortly after returning from a series of official visits to Europe.

“This meeting was held after the President returned from a foreign trip as a form of direct oversight of the implementation of the government’s priority programs,” Bahlil said in a social media post on Monday, January 26, 2026.

During the meeting, Bahlil briefed the President on developments in the energy sector, particularly oil and gas. He added that discussions also covered cooperation between universities and the mining industry.

Several other strategic issues were addressed, including the development of the Red and White Village Cooperative, progress in the banking sector, as well as matters related to defense, security, and the enforcement of forest areas.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the Hambalang meeting was held shortly after President Prabowo completed a series of overseas visits.

“After returning from abroad, President Prabowo wanted to review the progress of several strategic programs with relevant officials,” Teddy said in a written statement on Sunday night, January 25, 2026.

According to Teddy, the meeting lasted about half a day, from noon until evening, and was attended by at least six ministers.

President Prabowo received updates on several key projects, including progress on the Red and White Village Cooperative, presented by Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan.

The President also received a briefing on cooperation between higher education, engineering, and the mining sector from Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa reported on developments in the banking sector.
