TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi said he was unaware of reports that several social media users had received threats, a case that has recently gone viral online. He said the Presidential Palace had not received any official information regarding the matter.

“I didn’t monitor it. We were working,” Prasetyo said after a working meeting at the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Monday, January 26, 2026.

Reports of threats demanding the deletion of posts on X have circulated widely on social media. Several users claimed they received phone calls from unknown individuals urging them to remove posts critical of President Prabowo Subianto.

The alleged threats were reported by multiple users who had shared different types of content.

One account, @coacu, said it received a phone call from the number +6281311625845. The user posted a screenshot showing the call history and said the caller asked them to delete a repost of a Tempo article titled Prabowo Seeks UK's Top Universities to Open Campuses in Indonesia,” which the user had shared with a critical comment.

The claim drew significant public attention. As of Monday, January 26, the post had been viewed 4.8 million times, received more than 41,000 likes, and was reposted by 4,478 accounts.

Other users, including @kaneki and @hooman, also claimed to have received calls from the same number.

“I also received a call from the same number last night. You are getting more despicable,” @kaneki wrote on Sunday, January 25, 2026. In comment threads, some users speculated that the threats may have been linked to the government.

Prasetyo denied any involvement by the state. When asked about suspicions that the calls originated from the Presidential Palace party, he responded, “No.”
