TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) featured four-legged robots, also known as K9 robots, during the 79th Bhayangkara Day parade at the National Monument in Central Jakarta on July 1, 2025. The cost of a single K9 robot ranges from tens of millions to nearly Rp3 billion.

One of the companies behind the showcased robots was PT Ezra Robotics Teknologi. The company's President Director, Dhanisakka Vardhana, declined to reveal the price of the robot units developed by his company. However, he explained that the robots were sourced from manufacturers Deep Robotics and Unitree.

Ezra Robotics deployed several models at the event, including the X30 Pro and Lite-3 Pro from Deep Robotics, and the Go2 Pro Edu from Unitree. According to Dhanisakka, the price of each unit can be found on the manufacturers' official websites.

“The prices are open for viewing,” he wrote in a message to Tempo on Thursday, July 3, 2025.

He added, however, that the listed prices are based on the manufacturer's country of origin and do not include additional costs for software, hardware, or other accessories.

For instance, the Go2 Pro robot by Unitree without a remote control is priced at US$2,800, or approximately Rp45 million. The version with a remote control is priced at US$3,050, or about Rp49 million.

On Deep Robotics' website, only the specifications of the robots are displayed, without price details. However, Dhanisakka estimated that the price for a single X30 Pro unit could approach Rp3 billion.

“This estimate only applies to the X30 Pro model, not to the other robots,” he clarified.

Dhanisakka also noted that Ezra Robotics’ collaboration with Polri was limited to participation in the Bhayangkara Day exhibition. There have been no further agreements regarding robot procurement, nor has the company joined any tender process.

“There have been no processes at all,” he confirmed.

In addition to Ezra Robotics, Polri also worked with PT Sari Teknologi, an Indonesian information technology company founded in Jakarta in 2006. This company has developed several robots in collaboration with Polri, including K9 and humanoid models designed to support police operations.

Yohanes Kurnia Widjaja, President Director of PT Sari Teknologi, stated that the robots were developed to meet specific police needs. One example is the i-K9 robot, which can operate for up to eight hours under extreme weather conditions.

The robot is equipped with artificial intelligence (AI), which Yohanes claims allows it to perform tasks more adaptively and efficiently.

“We build this technology to meet the unique needs of the police,” Yohanes said, as quoted by Antara on June 30, 2025.

Meanwhile, Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) has questioned the purpose and financial justification for Polri’s robot procurement plan, especially amid calls for government budget efficiency.

ICW researcher Almas Sjafrina stated that Polri must first evaluate whether the robots are truly needed to support tasks that are difficult or ineffective for human personnel.

“Is it really for supporting difficult or inefficient tasks performed by human resources?” she said when contacted on July 3, 2025.

Almas added that the procurement plan comes at a time when public criticism of police services is increasing and government spending on basic public services is under pressure.

“This procurement is worthy of questioning and public attention,” she concluded.
