Coretax Bandwidth Expanded Ahead Tax Return Filing Surge

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa plans to expand the bandwidth of the Coretax system to anticipate a surge in the annual tax return (SPT) filings. The peak of the SPT filings typically occur from February to April.

"To anticipate congestion or overcrowding of users logging into Coretax," said Purbaya to journalists at the Ministry of Finance office, Jakarta, on Monday, January 26, 2026.

The measure is necessary, Purbaya said, to ensure smooth taxpayer access to Coretax, especially when user volume skyrockets, which has often faced technical disruptions in the past.

"Under normal conditions, the application seems to function well. Perhaps when there are too many users, it becomes disrupted. I will expand the bandwidth of Coretax to ensure there are no disruptions until April," he said.

Previously, the Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) at the Ministry of Finance reported that as of January 26, 2026, there have been 631,659 2025 income tax return (PPh) filed, representing a sharp hike compared to the week before with approximately 328,000 filings.

Director of Tax Dissemination, Services, and Public Relations at DJP, Rosmauli, explained that the filings consisted of 532,668 for employee individual taxpayers, 70,088 for non-employee individual taxpayers, 28,737 for corporate income tax, and 47 for corporate income tax in US dollars.

To file the tax return, taxpayers must now have a Coretax account and an Authorization Code or Electronic Certificate (KO/SE). The Directorate General of Taxes previously emphasized that the activation of Coretax accounts and the issuance of KO/SE must be completed before the digital services are used for filing.

The deadline for the annual SPT filing for individual taxpayers is March 31, while for corporate taxpayers, it is no later than April 30. Up to this point, the number of taxpayers who have activated Coretax accounts has reached 12,306,264, comprising individual taxpayers, corporations, government institutions, and e-commerce merchants.
