TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Indonesian National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that the death toll from the landslide in Cisarua, West Bandung Regency, reached 17. Abdul Muhari, Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, stated that the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Team had identified 11 bodies.

Meanwhile, six others are still being identified. According to Abdul, the joint search and rescue (SAR) team had handed over a total of 25 body bags on Sunday, January 25, 2026. This number, he said, includes 11 bodies that were identified and six that are still being identified.

"The results of the joint SAR team's search operation will then be processed by the DVI team for identification," Abdul said in a written statement on Monday, January 26, 2026.

He explained that the identification process can be faster if the bodies are intact and have supporting identification. However, identifying specific body parts takes longer because the process requires matching ante-mortem data.

Abdul explained that the identification process for the body bags that had been handed over to the DVI team was still ongoing.

This morning, Abdul said, the search for landslide victims resumed, focusing on search points previously mapped using drone images.
