At Least 17 Killed in Jakarta Office Building Fire

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A fire razed the Terra Drone office building on Jalan Letjen Suprapto, Cempaka Baru, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. At least dozens of people have reportedly been killed in the blaze.

The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Central Jakarta Metro Police, Adjunct Commissioner Roby Heri Saputra, confirmed that the incident resulted in fatalities. "Indeed, there have been casualties," he said when contacted on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

The Head of the Jakarta Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Isnawa Adji, said authorities were still identifying the cause of the fire and the extent of damage. "We are still gathering the data about the cause of the fire," he said when reached separately.

Based on preliminary data, as of 03:30 p.m., the number of casualties has reached 17 people. Initially reported at around 12:43 p.m. local time, firefighters were still trying to contain the blaze at the time of writing of this article.

The firefighting at the Terra Drone building is being carried out by 28 units of the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency, along with officers from the BPBD P2B, Indonesian Red Cross, AGD Health Office, Transportation Office, Public Order Office, State Electricity Company (PLN), Social Affairs Agency's PSKB/Tagana, sectoral police, and the military district command.
